Policy and Legislation
The Barton Child Law and Policy Center monitors child welfare and juvenile justice developments at all levels of government (local, state, federal, and international) and in all three branches of government (executive, legislative, and judicial).
We provide research, analysis, and training to insure that policies that impact court-involved children are based on research and best practices. The work of our students is primarily focused on Georgia law, policy, and practice. Our faculty and students are actively involved in monitoring budget meetings, Department of Human Services meetings, Department of Juvenile Justice meetings, sessions of the Georgia General Assembly, and court decisions and developments in the child law community.
